We are seeking individuals who would like to volunteer to speak at our retreat.

2023 marks our 19th annual Walker Area Men’s Retreat!
Our theme this year is “Sunlight of the Spirit“. Our retreat will be held at Shingobee Timbers, a 170 acre camp situated on Big Bass Lake in the Chippewa National Forest, between the towns of Walker, MN and Hackensack, MN.
Everyone attending this year’s retreat will be welcome to participate in topic meetings, great food and fellowship while enjoying a truly serene Minnesota northwoods experience!
Who we are
AA chapters in the Walker area have come together to host a Men’s Recovery Weekend Retreat. As with prior retreats, our 18th annual retreat is sponsored and funded by individuals of AA.
Please note!
- Camp Shingobee Timbers property is owned by Girl Scouts of Minnesota & Wisconsin Lakes and Pines.
- We must abide by regulations as indicated in our rental agreement or risk forfeiture of property rental.
- No pets are allowed (Unless identified as service dogs).
- No firearms are allowed on the property at any time.
- No fireworks are allowed on property at any time.
- The Walker Men’s Recovery Retreat also asks that no children be allowed to attend topic meetings or discussion groups.

Dining
A variety of foods, treats and beverages will be available to you during the retreat!
You will enjoy 5 complete meals:
- Friday – Dinner
- Saturday – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
- Sunday – Brunch
Expect to dine on ham, turkey venison, BBQ chicken, fish and brats, not to mention a spread of salads and desserts! Coffee, water and pop will also be provided.
You won’t be disappointed – or hungry!

From St.Cloud/Brainerd ::
Take Highway 10 North to 371 North. Approximately 4 miles north of Hackensack, go left on County Road 50 (also called Upper Ten Mile Lake Road). The road will be paved for 1 mile and then turn into a gravel road. Follow County Road 50 (Upper Ten Mile Lake Road) for about 4.5 miles to Shingobee Township 49 (also called Bachelor Road). Turn left on Township 49 and continue 1.2 miles to Shingobee Timbers entrance which is located on the right. Drive past garage and trailer to the Main Building and parking.
From Walker ::
Go South on State Highway 34 towards Akeley. Approximately 2.7 miles South of Walker, go left on County Road 50 which is a dirt road. Go 2.3 miles to Shingobee Rivers Bridge and continue 1/2 mile to Shingobee Township 49 (also called Bachelor Road). Turn right on Township 49 and continue 1.2 miles to Shingobee Timbers entrance which is located on the right. Drive past garage and trailer to the Main Building and parking.
